[Funky Zine Forest]는 4res와 Handowin으로 구성된 임시 진 그룹입니다. “Funky”는 Handowin의 펑키 소울 클럽에서 따왔습니다. “Forest”은 4res의 이름에서 따온 것입니다. 하지만 두 사람 모두 다른 방식으로 진을 만드는 것을 좋아합니다.
4res는 홍콩 출신의 그래픽 디자이너입니다. 영화를 좋아하고 홍콩의 진 커뮤니티인 진쿱(Zinecoop)의 창립자 중 한 명이기도 합니다. 『A Thin Booklet 1-12호』(잡지), 『Zinema 1-12호』(영화 리뷰 관련 잡지) 등을 자체 출판한 바 있습니다.
Handowin는 뉴욕/상하이에서 활동하는 작가 겸 일러스트레이터입니다. 다양한 기분을 표현하기 위한 스토리텔링 접근 방식에 관심이 많은 Handowin은 펑키한 영혼과 함께 특별한 상상력을 느낄 수 있는 작품을 만들고자 하는 강한 열정과 능력을 가지고 있습니다. 다양한 브랜드, 미디어, 아동 도서 출판사와 협업한 바 있습니다. 또한 독립 출판에 기여하는 진 메이커이기도 합니다. 지난 3년 동안 전 세계의 아트북 페어, 일러스트레이션 페어, 진 페스티벌에 다수 참가했습니다.
2019년에는 4res와 Handowin이 공동 작업하여 두 도시 이야기라는 진 시리즈를 만들었습니다: 상하이와 홍콩, 같은 주제로 두 도시를 비교하는 시리즈입니다. 첫 번째 호는 독립 서점입니다. 올해는 이 호를 수정하고 새롭게 디자인하고, 임시 팀 [Funky Zine Forest]를 결성해 활동합니다. Handowin의 시각화된 이야기를 통해 남다른 세계관을 엿볼 수 있습니다. 4res의 독특한 관점과 비판적 사고는 다른 사람들과 차별화되어, 이 둘의 협력은 분명 불꽃을 일으킬 것입니다.

[Funky Zine Forest] is a temp zine group made up of 4res and Handowin. “Funky” is from Handowin’s Funky Soul Club. “Forest” is from 4res’ name. Both of them love making zines in a different way though.
4res is a graphic designer from Hong Kong. He is also a movie-goer and one of the founders of Zinecoop, a Hong Kong zine community. He ever self-published A Thin Booklet Issue 1-12 (a collective zine), Zinema Issue 1-12 (about movie review) etc.
Handowin HE is an award-winning author-illustrator based in NYC/Shanghai. Keen on a storytelling approach to serving her various whims, Handowin holds a strong desire & ability to create artworks in which each one could feel her extraordinary imagination with a funky soul. She ever collaborated with various brands, media, and children’s book publishing press. Besides, Handowin is also a zine-maker contributing to independent publication. In the past three years, she participated in plenty of art book fairs, illustration fairs, and zine fests throughout the world.
In 2019, 4res and Handowin co-worked to create a zine series One Tale of Two Cities: Shanghai vs. Hong Kong, a comparison between two cities under a same topic. The first issue is independent bookstore. This year, they amend and re-design this issue. It will be published very soon. Since this year, they group up to establish a temp team [Funky Zine Forest]. Through Handowin’s visualized stories, an incomparable world outlook could be recognized. 4res’ unique viewpoint and critical thinking differentiate him from others. Their cooperation will definitely spur sparks.
